Business English
General Information About Business English Course:
This course is aimed towards those who have contact with international organizations and who need to be able to express themselves orally in a variety of work-related contexts. This is a practical course in which participants are expected to bring their own real-life experience to the classroom.
Professional Speaking course has been successfully conducted for the GPI Holding, the Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel, and Georgia Health and Social Projects Implementation Center (Ministry of Health-World Bank).
Course Outline:
Topics, Objectives and Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Topics include:
- Audience and purpose
- Style and register
- National stereotypes
- Non-verbal communication (eye contact, body language, gestures, etc.)
Objectives include:
- Writing business letters, memos, reports and summaries
- Making and dealing with complaints, communicating with clients and colleagues
- Suggesting solutions to problems, stating alternatives and recommending action
- Conducting a survey and reporting the findings
- Analyzing data and drawing conclusions
- Agreeing and disagreeing
- Interrupting and holding the floor
- Explaining cause and effect relationships
- Using tables and diagrams
- Understanding cultural differences in doing business
Tasks include:
- Giving a 15-minute presentation
- Writing an official letter
- Conducting a mock meeting
- Conducting a survey and reporting the results
